Again, if possible fly with THY (Turkish Airlines).

But if not, others are okay to fly with too. Domestic flights won't take too long afterall..

International Flights:

All major and most of the minor airline companies have flights to Istanbul.

I recommend you to book your flight in advance and fly with THY (Turkish Airlines). THY (Turkish Airlines) is an award-winning airline company and has a very wide range of destinations on each continent.

You can find cheap flights to Istanbul with THY (Turkish Airlines) if you buy your ticket in advance.

THY (Turkish Airlines) is by far the best airline company that I flew with to and from Istanbul. Staff is really polite, the service is excellent and the food is plenty and delicous.

 Flying from USA:

It will be a long flight so comfort matters more than price here. Even if you have a stopover somewhere in Europe, you’ll be on a plane for at least 5-6 hours. So make sure you will be on a comfortable plane and service is good.

If I were you, I'd go with THY. The seats are comfortable, the service is good, food is delicious and plenty, you can choose a nice DVD between a wide range of movies.

Flying from Europe:

It will be a shorter flight than a flight from USA. So you might look for a budget-friendly option because it will be a 4-5 hours flight at the most. And there is a good possibility it will only take 2-3 hours.

If you will fly from the UK, the cheapest option is usually Easyjet flights. (www.easyjet.com) Easyjet has daily flights from London Luton Airport to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (on the Asian Side of Istanbul)

Istanbul's main airport, Ataturk International Airport, is 20km west of the city centre.

The second airport is Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, on the Asian Side. It is approximately 70 km east of the city center.

High Season in Istanbul:

The high season is between May and September. But you will see the most crowded tourist groups in July and August.

The low season is between October and April. You will see fewer tourists and lower hotel room prices accordingly.

The overall price of your Istanbul trip will be lower than a high season Istanbul trip. But be prepared, the weather will be cold during the low season.

What Time Should Your Flight Be During the Day?

Traffic jam during business hours is catastrophic in Istanbul.

If possible, try to avoid flights that; Arrive between 07:00 – 09:00 and 18:00 – 20:00Depart between 09:00 – 11:00 and 19:00 – 21:00

Because between these hours, you will be in heavy traffic, trying to reach the airport or trying to go to downtown on the busiest traffic hours.

And believe me, it is not a memory you'd like to have!
