Night Life

Night life of Istanbul is legendary. When the sun goes down and the lights go on, Istanbul becomes the big scene for nightlife with incredibly various options. The city switches into a vibrant scene of night life action.

Bosphorus shore-front restaurants and nightclubs have the most amazing view with any kind of food and music you can choose between.

A wide range of bars, nightclubs, restaurants and hotel lounges provide scenic rooftops to watch the shining jewel called Istanbul at night and to have the most beatiful night ever…

During summer, most of the restaurants move to their summer places, mostly rooftops, where you can have your dinner with a delicious glass of a Turkish wine while watching the lights of the city and feeling the soft breeze.

There are several neighbourhoods that

offer lots of choices all over the city.

The two main night life centers are;

  • Beyoğlu: Istiklal Street, Asmalımescid, Tunel and Galata
  • Istiklal Street from Taksim to Tünel can be said to be the centre of nightlife in Istanbul. This street is full of cafes, restaurants, bars and night clubs of all kinds, for all kinds of tastes.

  • Bosphorus: Ortaköy, Kuruçeşme and Bebek
  • These neighborhoods on the Bosphorus shore (European side) are particularly vibrant on summer nights, with the lights twinkling beneath the Bosphorus Bridge.

What about other parts of the city?

  • Sultanahmet
  • You must be wondering “What about Sultanahmet?”.

Well, Sultanahmet is not a nightlife center, it is rather tranquile at nighttime but you have some options there too.

The restaurants, bars, tea gardens and cafes that provide nargile (waterpipe) can help you plan a nice, quiet night-out if you are really that tired.

  • Kadıköy and Bağdat Street
  • If you are somehow on the Asian side and want a night-out there, Kadikoy neighborhood and Bağdat Street has lots of choices of bars and restaurants too.

What are the options for a nice night life experience?

There is a suitable choice for everyone in this city after dark. You can choose between meyhanes, winebars, bars, restaurants, live music clubs, dance clubs, all-in-one clubs, live concerts or cafes, tea gardens, waterpipe (nargile or hookah pipe) cafes depending on your nightlife style.

There is an ever-growing number of bars, clubs and restaurants, so it’s better to check what’s new and what’s hot before your visit to İstanbul… Usually all of these clubs host multi-national crowds, so their staffs speak English.

  • Live music:
  • Live music is an important ingredient of İstanbul nightlife. Istanbul's live music venues, concert halls, clubs and bars provide endless possibilities for you. Click here for live-music venues.

  • Night Clubs and Bars:
  • Cover charges are customary for admission to nightclubs, but usually applies only after 23:00 or midnight when the live bands get on the stage.

Most of the musical venues or concert halls also charge an admission; tickets are generally sold at the box office or you can buy them through Biletix (www.biletix.com).

Closing hours differ in every club. Some close around 02:00, some close around 04:00.
