You can either take a taxi to Sultanahmet or use the tram.
If you will use the tram, take the funicular from Taksim Square to “Kabatas”. Then switch to tram in Kabatas, get off at the Sultanahmet stop.
Taxi is a good option especially if you are not alone. The expense will be lowered if you are accompanied by 1-2 people.
It takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to reach the city, depending on traffic.
But keep in mind that a taxi trip from SAW with four passengers and their luggage can be an uncomfortable one. If the taxi is a big one 4 is okay but if it is small one 3 will be better.
Don’t forget to have your destination address written out for the driver.
